Creating and configuring a board

Creating and configuring a board

Any user can create a board. The creator automatically becomes its owner.

Creating a board

  1. In the Task boards section click Add — the Board creation panel opens.
  2. Enter a Name. It must be unique in the system — validation runs as you type. If the name is taken, a hint appears: "A board with that name already exists".
  3. Optionally fill in the Description.
  4. Select Task templates — at least one. A template is a task type; each board has its own set of templates. Members will create tasks on the board from the connected templates.
  5. Select the Access type:
    • Open (default) — the board is visible to everyone;
    • Restricted — the board is visible to the owner and added members. Selecting it shows the Members block.
  6. Click Create. The button is active only when the required fields are filled.

After creation the board opens and a "Board created" message appears.

By default a status model with the standard statuses is created for a new board: New, In progress, Completed, Cancelled (see Status model).

Required and optional fields

FieldRequiredRule
NameYesUnique in the system
Task templatesYesAt least one
Access typeYesOpen / Restricted
DescriptionNo
MembersNoRestricted board only

Editing a board

Settings are available to the board owner and administrator — from the board card context menu via Edit. The same fields as on creation are available: name, description, set of templates, access type.

⚠️

Changing the status model is possible only while the board has no tasks. If tasks already exist, the status model cannot be replaced — only editing the current one is available.

Managing members (Restricted board)

The Members block is shown only for a board with Restricted access. Members are added and removed row by row, without re-saving the whole form:

  1. Start typing a user's name and pick them from the list — the member is added as a row (avatar, name, remove button).
  2. To remove a member, click the remove button in their row.

When added, a user gets the Member role; no separate role selection is needed.

💡

Switching a board from Restricted to Open clears the members list. Switching back leaves the board without members except the owner — members must be added again.

Archiving and restoring

Only the owner can archive and restore a board.

  1. In the board card context menu select Archive.
  2. In the confirmation dialog the system lists the consequences: the board and its tasks become read-only; the board disappears from members' lists; creating new tasks is blocked.
  3. Confirm with the Archive button.

Restoring is done similarly via Restore. Archived boards are visible through the Archive filter in the board list.
